Here, work from Dylan's PhD demonstrates that different hippocampus -> lateral septum circuits may play different roles in approach-avoidance conflict processing. Specifically, a vCA3 -> caudodorsal septum circuit may be important for behavioural inhibition under conditions of motivation conflict whereas a vCA1 -> rostroventral lateral septum may be critical for suppressing non-specific approach behaviour.
